Registration is open for Brunswick Partnership for Housing’s Sleep Out Brunswick fundraiser, a poverty simulation where participants will sleep in tents, cardboard boxes or cars to raise funds and awareness about homelessness.

The event runs from 5 p.m. Oct. 16 to 8 a.m. Oct. 17 at Brunswick Community College’s Alan Holden Public Safety Building in Bolivia (off-site participation is available from Sept. 16).

On Monday, a contractor struck an 8-inch sewer main near Mill Pond Road in Sunset Beach, spilling about 8,800 gallons of untreated wastewater into a Calabash River tributary, and repair crews fixed the line by 7 p.m. while water testing continues.
