Service Project – Share a Holiday Feast

About this event

SSC is teaming up with St Jude’s Food Pantry to provide a Thanksgiving meal for our brothers and sisters in Wilmington who might not otherwise have a feast to share! Here is the shopping list:

Fresh whole chicken or small ham

Fresh potatoes – white and/or sweet

Fresh vegetables – broccoli, green beans, collard greens, carrots, kale, etc or any combination

Fresh whole onion

Canned cranberry sauce

Stovetop stuffing mix

Dinner rolls

Butter

Plus as many of these items in addition to the meal:

Cooking oil (not olive oil)

Bagged salad and dressing

Eggs

Fresh fruit – bananas, apples, oranges, etc

You might notice a theme above…FRESH is the word…except for a few items. It will be a great surprise because they rarely get fresh food. And almost never do they get butter and cooking oil. Their clients do get plenty of desserts, plus many are diabetic and cannot eat sweets. So, we’ll skip desserts this year.

Arrive at St. Jude’s, 19 N 26th Street (near the corner of Market and 26th) between 8-8:30am on Tuesday, November 24th. Due to the number of items that need refrigeration we cannot collect your donations ahead of time. If you are unable to get there on Tuesday morning, call a friend to coordinate your delivery. Or you can always offer cash and we’ll shop for you. We are a small but mighty community!
